Once again Cinda Williams Chima returns with another awe-inspiring book as part of the Seven Realms series of books. This time our favorite author returns with The Crimson Crown and boy does this book go down a treat!
I recently saw a description of The Crimson Crown book that described it as ‘Stunning’ and I have to say that’s exactly the right word to use. It’s not often that I come across a book that is incredibly hard to put down, but this was this case with the fourth book in the Seven Realms series.
The plot seems to thicken and move at a dramatic pace, but this can only be a good thing as the tension mounts and the pages keep turning. Queen Raisa is once again in a bit of a predicament and it’s up to her to unite her subjects against the enemy, but as you can expect this is easier said than done.
There is more than one storyline in Cinda Williams Chima’s book, and that doesn’t surprise me, but it’s all relevant and things become clear after time. One of them happens to involve Han Alister who has an undying love for his Queen who also happens to be the only person who can help him. When a great secret’s been unearthed by this former streetlord, we watch as he tries his best to deal with it and keep the secret alive before he dies. Is this possible? Those of you who haven’t read The Crimson Crown will have to wait and see but this story becomes more and more entangled and relevant as it moves on. As Queen Raisa looks to unite her people it’s discovered that the secret Hans has uncovered is the key to bringing everyone together, but of course, things are never that easy.
The hardcover version of this fascinating and addictive book contains 608 pages, which may seem a lot to some, but once you get stuck into the story you’ll be pleased to know that it will be a while before you’ll have to look for something else to read.
Although this book is geared towards young adults (Anyone from the age of 12), it’s suitable for those who are older too. The world of science fiction is ageless as is anything written by this highly creative author who loves to keep us intrigued.
The only downside to this book is that it took so long to be published. As with the other 3 stories in the Seven realms series, I was hooked from the first few pages and waiting for it to come onto the shelves was just about the worst kind of torture an avid Cinda Williams Chima fan can experience.
Unfortunately, as I mentioned earlier, this is the last book in the Seven Realms series, which is a shame but all good things must come to an end. The end of this particular series however, is definitely worth the wait and I promise you’ll be drawn into the Queendom of the Fells like never before.
